According to Sarah Perez, In the Pwn2Own contest which is going to be held this year a new way of iPhone Baseband hacking will be demonstrated by Ralf-Philip Weinmann who is the security researcher. The bug which is normally found in chipsets of Qualcomm and Infineon Technologies will be used in the new way of mobile.phone hacking Weinmann will show the new way of mobile phone hacking on both Android and iOS platforms. First Hacker will set up a fake cell tower and then using this fake cell tower they will send malicious code to a target device.
Towers can be created for around $2,000 USD by using OpenBTS software which is available for free of cost. Well, Don’t need to get panic because the hackers would require in-depth knowledge of the chipsets in order to carry such an attack but most of the Hackers does not have in-depth knowledge of the chipsets.
